Continue this important work at the Dupree Nature Preserve, together with our Lexington-based partner Bluegrass Greensource, while expanding these efforts at our Kentucky River Palisades nature preserves.

  • Continued to make the Dupree Nature Preserve a premier environmental education destination for elementary, middle and high school students from the Lexington area, and beyond.
  • Welcomed more than 400 fifth grade students from Jessamine and Garrard counties to hike the trails and participate in outdoor educational experiences to complement classroom work.
  • Completed the last segment of the Cliff Trail, which connects the Overlook Trail and the River Trail and allows hikers access from the nature preserve’s cliff edge to river bottomland.
  • Implemented ecological and other management activities, including prescribed burning in focused areas, weed eradication and construction of a new sign-in station at the nature preserve’s entrance.
