Brown-Forman and The Nature Conservancy are working on a multi-year restoration project to return a portion of the the beverage company’s 100-acre Woodford Reserve Distillery to a more natural state.
With guidance from the Conservancy, Brown-Forman is replacing a portion of the currently manicured lawn with native vegetation and trees requiring less maintenance.
Eventually, the property will harbor hundreds of trees native to Kentucky, including the same variety of white oak used to make barrels in the bourbon industry.
The native trees and plantings line the stream running through the Distillery’s property to act as a natural filter to improve water quality on the property and in surrounding communities.
